Now THAT'S a trial!

Yesterday I had a bridal trial with Chelsea, who is an avid horseback rider and cares for/bathes and grooms horses. She told me that after the trial, she would be putting the makeup to the ultimate test when she went to bathe and ride her 2 horses in a heat advisory! I was so excited that I told her to take lots of pictures. I was hoping it would hold up well, but didn't know for sure with that type of activity.

The results were fantastic. Behold, the progression of photos of Chelsea throughout the day as she rode, bathed, brushed 2 horses over the period of 6 hours in 95 degree weather. Amazing!!!

Pro shot of bride Casey and More from Summertime Shoot

I had to share these pics that just came to me. There were pics of Casey (bride) loaded to my blog right after her wedding because she looked so pretty, but this pic came from the actual wedding photog and not my little cheapie camera.

Then a few more pics were edited from photographer Allyson Keenan on a shoot with model Bre. These show a few more looks we captured- enjoy!

Open House was a success

Last Friday, we here at State of Face had a great turnout for the first ever Open House. After this one, we are all jazzed to partner with our vendor buddies for another one in the depths of winter.
A BIGGGGG shout out to the following vendors for making this possible:
-Picture the Love for taking photos throughout the evening (pics to come!)
-Jessica from Lavish Spa and Salon for giving facial treatments
-Jennifer King from Salon Lofts for doing hair styling
-Carrie's Cake boutique for sweetening up the evening
-Ashley Miller with Sweet William Floral Design for bringing beautiful arrangements
-Lea Gray for hanging one of her origami lanterns (she's in the pic below, makeup done by me and wearing an origami dress!)
-And I cannot forget the awesome interns that busted out the last couple of weeks to make it a success!! Thank you to Kelsie, Jillian, Nicole and Marlowe.

New record

Dr. Jessica's wedding was THE largest party (by 3 people) I've pulled off solo or otherwise. I knocked out 14 faces (though, to be fair 2 of them were 11 and 13 years old) in under 5 hours. I sort of can't believe the whirlwind came together so beautifully. Jessica was a beautiful bride and so relaxed and happy. I had a wonderful time working with Jess and her girls- best of luck Dr. G! The middle pic is right after she attempted to put on her shoes, but her girls realized that after walking around the hotel barefoot- they weren't exactly looking wedding ready. She kept a good sense of humor about it.

Doctor, Doctor

Sometimes I get the pleasure of working with brides who are not only accomplished, but also humble. A recent bride, Cherie, was just that. She is an ENT doctor and her only bridesmaid was an OB/GYN. Such a pleasant and easy-going day. Also, the photographer, Christy Gibson is always a pleasure. She already posted a few pictures and I wanted to share.

Tattoo, you say?

Now you see it!
Now you don't!
This is a recent tattoo that I covered. I had the pleasure of sitting in on a class given by Kett Cosmetics on covering tattoos with their airbrush makeup a couple of weeks ago in NYC. It was so fortunate since those are the foundations that I love. It's not always going to look invisible, but it will not read to wedding guests and in pictures.
I provide this service starting at $40 per area.

2011 brings lots of new brides

I've been so focused on booking, trials and early season weddings that I have not updated in a long time. These pictures are only a few of the many girls who I've worked with lately. Wish I always remembered to take pictures!

For those who have asked, my own wedding shots

Music is pretty much everything to Jay and me, so our theme was vintage music. We performed a duet with The Randys, our first band. It was one of my favorite moments of the day! Continuing on the music theme, I had a cake made in the shape of a guitar in our colors. Love it!
Yes, I added pink to my dress- it didn't come this way :)

Here are my "girls". I had one of my boys in my wedding party. This shot is showing our snazzy shoes.

I like my veil in this shot. Jay had a cute hat that he sported for the pics and reception.

It's been a minute...

I've been absent from the blog now for over 2 months. I guess getting married and finishing a semester in school will do that to a person. Here are some of the weddings from Sept/October that I got some new shots from. The first is Jennifer, who I had in an earlier entry. There is the adorable "fan photo" and you can see all of their beautiful eyes. I did the bride, her super pretty/young-looking Mom, sister-in-law and the 2 girls standing to the right in the picture. I can tell by the eyebrows that I didn't do the girl to her left and I don't think it was my work on the far left either (hard to tell disguised by the fans). You can see the soft definition of the 3 in the pic who I did do for sure. This is Carmel, while I was finishing up her makeup. It's always fun to see the dynamic happening. This is great lighting, too!

Another sweet one of Jennifer.

This is a bridesmaid from Brooke's (coming next) wedding. My (now) husband's co-worker got married the week before we did and I did all of her party and the bride. They were so laid back and low maintenance. Plus, I have it on good authority that they couldn't stop looking at themselves in the mirror all day out of pure vanity. That's what I like to hear!

Here is Brooke, looking so stunning!! The lovely couple was featured in Jet magazine, too! Go Brooke and Matt!!
